Ocean Street Gateway Beautification

The City of Santa Cruz is pleased to invite artists and teams of artists to submit proposals to join the Ocean Street Gateway Design Team. Up to five (5) artists will selected to collaborate with RHAA on several cohesive concepts for the new Ocean Street Gateway. Together the artists and landscape architects will integrate both public art and sustainable landscapes for a more beautiful entrance to Santa Cruz.
Artists selected at the concept stage will receive stipends of up to $5,000 for their work and will be eligible for potential selection as to fabricate final artwork for the future gateway improvements, subject to further public engagement and approval of final designs.

Initial Community Survey
An initial community survey was conducted in April and May 2023 to learn from the public about concerns for the area and to seek input and community preferences for potential design styles, features, themes, and considerations. This feedback will be used as guidance for the selected artists and for the design team RHAA to to develop up to three (3) conceptual site plans for future public feedback.
Your input is crucial to making sure that the new gateway will be one we can all be proud of.
