Overview:

The SCRAP (Santa Cruz Recycled Art Program) is an Artist Residency that grants local artists of varied disciplines, the opportunity to expand creatively and conceptually through exposure to a vast array of unexpected materials. The Resource Recovery Facility at Dimeo Lane provides an experimental shift in palette from paint, clay, and more traditional media, to an inventory of forms where the material itself conveys stories of cultural behavior. Artists are inspired to make provocative statements on the environmental impact of human consumption, educate on waste management practices, and urge us to reconsider choices in waste disposal.

Eligibility:
Artists 18+ years, residing within the County of Santa Cruz who have not been previous SCRAP participants may apply. The City Arts are grounded on the concepts of Equity, Inclusivity and Environmental Justice which are incorporated into all aspects of programming.

OPTIONAL PRE-APPLICATION TOUR for interested artists will be held on March 12th at 10:30 at the Resource Recovery Facility (RRF) located off Highway 1 north of Santa Cruz at 605 Dimeo Lane. This will be an opportunity for artists to see what is available to glean and to ask questions about the program.
